InsideOut garden offices, granny flats and insulation.

To ensure that you, your expensive business equipment and papers are in a dry and comfortable atmosphere, all year round, all our garden offices, Microlodges and granny flats are built using double quantities of eco-friendly insulation and breathing technology.

The walls of all our buildings are 200mm thick, ceilings are 310mm thick and floors are 255mm thick. All are filled with double layers of insulation.

There are no Government insulation standards or regulations for garden offices. This means that badly constructed and inadequately insulated buildings can be used as garden offices. To  minimise your electricity bill and care for your environment, we voluntarily insulate all our garden offices to *Government Building Regulation Standards for new homes and public buildings.

With the world’s increasing concern about climate change, InsideOut garden offices, and the garden studio, are built to consume less energy and reduce their contribution to global warming. Over 25% of the UK’s CO2 emissions come from inadequate insulation in domestic buildings.

We offer a choice of eco-friendly insulation materials in each garden office, guest room or granny annexe. Each of these materials has been manufactured using as little energy and chemicals, and as much recycling, as possible: -

1. Rockwool.

• Rockwool a mineral fibre insulation that is manufactured using as much recycled material as possible. The Rockwool factory in South Wales heats its own offices using waste heat from the manufacturing process. Rockwool won the Wales Environmental Award in 2002 and continually strives to reduce its energy and water consumption. Our garden office prices include for Rockwool insulation.

2. Thermafleece Sheep’s wool insulation. 

• Thermafleece insulation is manufactured from the wool of British hill sheep. The manufacturing process uses little energy and the resulting eco-friendly insulation is a natural, low allergy, breathable material.
